Trip Report: Wave/Eagle 2018 Season Opener submitted by Ruth S. Well.... WOW!!!!! After being cancelled last year due to weather, the annual Wave / Eagle clean up was back on the calendar for 2018 and was a total and complete success. Not only did the group pick up plenty of trash, but we also had great weather. And speaking of the group, there were 27 or 28 vehicles, depending on who and when the count was taken. As part of the tradition, there was a PICNIC!!! This year the group tried something new. After doing the clean up on Wave/Eagle; we also ran Chuckar Trail (an extra 7 miles) and had the picnic at the end. Had more space, more parking, a shelter (or 2) and pit toilets. And lots and lots of great food. Thanks to all who participated - who ran the trails, who picked up trash, who brought food, who brought extra tables, grills and a pickup to haul it all in, who were midgunners and tail gunners, who spotted for others and a special thanks to Eddie for being "leader of the pack" and to Linnea for organizing the food. What a great event. ... See more

Arizona trip report from member Ruth S. "We began our recent trip to AZ with a stop in Kingman AZ where we, along with fellow club members Craig & Helen, joined the Walapai 4-Wheelers for their annual 2-day Ghost Town Jamboree. If you have never attended this event, we would highly recommend it. They offer approximately 7 or 8 trail choices each day, ranging from easy to buggy runs. Someone or something seemed to break each day on the difficult runs and our intermediate runs offered several obstacles each day. 2018 was their 40th year of offering this event so they are very well organized and know what they're doing. From Kingman the four wanderers (Lester / Ruth and Craig / Helen) continued south and east to Apache Junction AZ for 3 more days of trails. We were joined here by Jim & Stella for a couple of days and by Deb for all 3 days (Jack came along for one of those days). The first day (led by Jim & Stella) offered the most fun and several interesting obstacles - rocky climbs; box canyon; steep descents with drop offs; and last, but by no means least, a crossing of the Gila River. Along the way we saw a desert big horned sheep and crested saguaro cactus, both pretty rare in the area. The second day was much more relaxing but very scenic with great views and a stop at Tonto Ruins National Monument. The third day was a wonderful drive across Montana Mountain with a couple of short side trips that Jack and Deb found when they preran this trail for us. 10 days - 5 day of jeep rides, 6 different trails, obstacles enough, no tow straps or winches needed; all in all another good trip. Thanks to Jack & Deb and Jim & Stella for pre-running some trails, leading, suggestions and recommendations. Hopefully you'll be able to open the link below (may have to click on a few different options - I was able to open in new window) and view a few of the pictures taken. (Thanks to Stella for a few of them.)" ... See more
