Plan to arrive is Escalante Utah on Sunday June 9th. We will spend the next 4 days explore some of the backroads of the National Monument. Trips will include:
Skutumph Road – rated easy; would include hikes in Lick Wash and Willis Creek slot canyons (rated easy)
Cottonwood Canyon Road – rated easy; would include looking for Grosvenor and Shakespeare Arches (any hikes involved would be easy) and Butler Valley Draw Narrows (again, easy hiking)
Wolverine Loop – rated easy; include hike to Wolverine Petrified Wood Natural Area
Hells’ Backbone Road and Posey Lake Road – both rated as easy; no hikes but stops for pictures
Smoky Mountain Road – rated as easy; no hikes but stops for pictures
Will pick and choose as to which of these we actually do and in what order. Will not be able to do them all this trip.
All ratings are for dry surfaces and have not been prerun; may or may not have been graded; and are some combination of gravel and dirt. All would be whole day trips, some may end earlier than others depending on length of hikes, etc. All trips will leave from Canyon Country Lodge in Escalante; camping is available nearby and the town has full services (gas, food, restaurants, etc)
Let Lester or Ruth know if interested or have questions.
