WS4W Club Calendar
We will be hosting a Williams Pass workday on Sunday, July, 26th. We will be brushing the road of overgrown willows, moving rocks, and working with the road engineer to cut waterbars. The project info is as follows.
Project Overview –
Where: East Alpine Tunnel Parking Lot (38.639400, -106.361851)
When: 0800, July 26th
Plan: Drive to the summit, have a safety meeting, disperse into work crews
Tools to Bring: Battery powered hedge trimmer or battery powered saws, lopers, shovel, pick.
It would be ideal to take as few vehicles up the pass as possible. Please ride with someone. There is not a lot of room to stay on the trail at the summit.
**We will be locking the gate behind the crew so please don’t be late**
Bring water, lunch, snacks, gloves, etc.
Rick A. will lead Black Bear Reverse on August 1st. Plan to leave City Market South no later than 5:00 AM. Participants must pre-register with Rick in order to be allowed on this trip. Please have a full tank of gas, lunch, water, snacks, etc.
Rick A. will lead Scofield Pass Cleanup on August 8th, leaving Delta City Market by 8:00 AM. Please have a full tank of gas, lunch, water, snacks, etc.
Meet at the Sonic parking lot and enjoy socializing with your fellow club members.
Just be aware that Jeep Jamboree USA will be in Ouray these dates. Their groups will be on some of the more popular trails.
Terry H. will lead over Pearl Pass and connect to Taylor Pass. Start with a full tank of gas; bring lunch, snacks, water, etc. T
Both Pearl Pass and Taylor Pass are rated as difficult, due to boulder fields, steep climbs, narrow shelves, etc.
Campers will be staying and meeting at Taylor Park Reservoir overnight on the 28th. If not camping, meet up with the campers at Taylor Reservoir store at 10am on the 29th. Combined groups will do Taylor Pass first and then Pearl. This will be a long day for both groups; those camping and those returning to Montrose.
Contact Terry for additional information.
Cliffhangers 4X4 Club in Farmington, NM will host Fall Crawl Sept. 9th to 13th. Trail rides on the 9th and 10th, in town activities on the 11th, followed by competitive Rock Crawling on the 12th and 13th. See their website for additional information.
Lester S. and Dick F. will lead the annual clean Up on Smith Mt Jeep Road on Wednesday, Sept 9th. Meet at Old (Downtown City Market) at 9am with a full tank of gas, lunch, snacks, and water. If trailing a vehicle, you can plan to meet the group at Peach Valley Staging Area about 9:30am. Trail rated about a 3/4.
