WS4W Club Calendar
Meet at Downtown City Market at 9am to run Smith Mountain Jeep Road, one of our adopted trails. Contact Lester S. with any questions. Please bring trash bags, as well as a full tank of gas, lunch, water and snacks.
There will be NO Club Dinner in May due to Memorial Day Weekend. Please attend the Meet & Greet on May 16th instead.
Matt and Lisa G. will lead 3 days of trail rides in the West End of Montrose County. Will be mostly on county roads to include looking for mines and rock art. Camping available at Uravan Ball Park. All facilities available in Nucla / Naturita – gas, motel, grocery, etc.
Currently there is no particular order for the Days 1-3. Come for a day or two, or the whole weekend!
Day 1 – Leaving from the intersection of Highways 141 & 90 at 9:00 am
GG6 Road to Morning Star Mine, stopping at two small petroglyphs sites. Visit the Rimrock mining area – there are some great views of the Dolores WSA and the La Sal Mountains in this area. Check out the views from the top of Wedding Bell Mountain. Drive most of the roads described in the “Bull Canyon Monogram Mesa” brochure.
Day 2 – Leaving from the intersection of Highways 141 & 90 at 9:00 am
Try to find the petroglyphs described in the “Paradox Valley Petroglyph Tour” brochure, and explore the area and roads described in the “Long Park Mine Tour” brochure.
Day 3 – Leaving from the intersection of Highways 141 & 90 at 9:00 am
Visit the Cashin Copper Mine. Drive into Utah and then back into Montrose County to explore some of the roads and mining areas southwest of the Cashin Copper Mine.
Day 4 (Monday) – Leaving from the Ballpark Campground at 9:00 am
Check out the confluence of the San Miguel and Dolores Rivers (Y11 Road). Find the Horse Collar and Mailman’s Ladder sites off of Highway 141.

Rock Junction is a 2-day event hosted by the Grand Mesa Jeep Club in Grand Junction, CO. Participants drive their own 4WD vehicle on trail rides ranging from mild and scenic to extreme rock crawling. For more information, go to www.gmjc.org.
Monthly club meeting 7:00 pm at Lion’s Clubhouse, 602 North Nevada, Montrose
The club meets the first Tuesday of every month unless displaced by a holiday.
Meet Lester and Ruth at 9am at the Ouray Visitor’s Center. We will go out to the end of Cunningham Gulch and then come back and go to Stony Pass. Depending on developments we may (or may not) also go on to Pole Creek and / or include a trip to Buffalo Boy Tram House. Plan for an all day trip.
This is an all day event hosted by the Nucla/Naturita Chamber of Commerce. Participants drive their own 4WD vehicle on little known roads in the west end of Montrose County, CO. Additional information to follow.
Lester will be doing Ophir Pass on Tuesday, June 12. If interested meet at the Ouray Visitor’s Center at 9am. Will come back by way of Last Dollar Road. Plan a full day; bring lunch, water, snacks, etc.
Ladies – let’s drive those jeeps!!! Why should guys have all the fun? This will be an easy trail for us to start on. Meet at Downtown (Old) City Market at 9am and plan to leave by 9:30am. We will start on Elephant Skin Road and then continue down Chuckar Trail. Plan on lunch at the end of Chuckar. For additional details contact Linnea.
Join your fellow Club members at the Coldstone Creamery at the corner of Townsend and South 5th. Show off your vehicle (4 Wheel drive, of course); have some ice creme and generally socialize.
